360 is one of the biggest stars to come out of the Australian hip-hop scene, commanding legions of fans across his social media channels, releasing platinum-selling albums, and earning ARIA awards, as well as launching his own non-profit group.

His success has been propelled by an accessible sound that’s distinctly hip-hop and classically Australian, but that operates within a pop framework. But Sixty, whose real name is Matt Colwell, isn’t interested in making the kind of music anymore.

Taking to Facebook, Colwell declared his renewed love for rap, saying that whilst his past releases have been oriented around singles and accessibility, he is now entirely focused on being the best rapper he can be and will demonstrate as much on his next album.

“I am seriously so fucking glad that I fell in love with rap again,” he wrote on Facebook. “I didn’t think it would happen but it has. All I care about is rap and being the best rapper I can possibly be.”

“My next 360 record won’t be anything like I’ve dropped before, time to raise the bar. My past albums have been heavily single-driven. Whilst I still love great pop music, that won’t disappear, but this next shit is going to be hugely rap driven – bars and concepts.”

Colwell’s last album was 2014’s Utopia, which peaked at Number 2 on the ARIA Albums chart. He’s since released an acclaimed and popular mixtape entitled Please Be Seated 3, on which he raps over instrumentals from Kanye West, Alt-J, and more.
