The final additions to the Glastonbury 2014 lineup have been announced, and as expected the annual UK music festival’s complete is as amazing as it is massive.

Metallica leads the pack of the new additions, added as the third headliner, joining previously confirmed bill-toppers Arcade Fire, playing the Pyramid stage on Friday night, and Kasabian, who take the honours of closing the festival on Sunday night.

That leaves the metal icons to blast the UK festival’s Pyramid Stage on Saturday night, marking not only their Glastonbury debut but being the first metal band to headline the festival in its 44-year history, as NME reports. “To be honest with you, we didn’t sit around and have a big conversation when the call came,” says drummer Lars Ulrich. “Headlining Glastonbury is a no-brainer. We didn’t need to sit around thinking about the pros and cons.”

Other new additions to the Glastonbury 2014 lineup are The Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band, Philly fuzz-rockers The War On Drugs, the Australia-bound St. Vincent, sibling rockers HAIM, Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood, Roxy Music frontman Bryan Ferry, plus Disclosure, The Horrors, M.I.A., Deltron 3030, The Stepkids, Nick Mulvey, Bombay Bicycle Club, even The London Sinfonietta and English National Ballet.

In fact, name a noteworthy band of the last 12 months and chances are they’re playing the event, taking place from 27th to 29th June at Glastonbury’s historic home at the Worthy Farm in Somerset. Over at the Park Stage, there’s two names… that will give Aussies a warm patriotic glow: Courtney Barnett and Jagwar Ma.

Also performing on the main stage are Jack White, The Black Keys, Zeppelin vocalist Robert Plant, Lily Allen, Land Del Rey, De La Soul, Elbow, Kelis, and Country music matriarch Dolly Parton, while the Other Stage is being headlined by Skrillex, Jake Bugg, and Massive Attack, along with Pixies, Manic Street Preachers, Interpol, Foster The People, Warpaint, and many more.

Over at the Park Stage, there’s two names listed among the likes of James Blake, Metronomy, Four Tet, Mogwai, Danny Brown, and Parquet Courts that will give Aussies a warm patriotic glow: Courtney Barnett and Jagwar Ma.

Both Aussie artists have already been making waves overseas (and are currently cracking America, we reckon), with Courtney Barnett slaying US TV audiences and locked in for international festivals such as LollapaloozaFirefly, Outside Lands, Canada’s Osheaga and NXNE industry conference, and Barcleona’s Primavera Sound.

She also played Coachella 2014, where fellow countrymen Jagwar Ma were making giddy fanboys out of US tastemakers with their afternoon set performance. The psych-dance-rock duo’s upcoming Glastonbury slot backs up their appearance at the festival last year. That set saw Jagwar Ma swiftly hailed as ‘the next Tame Impala’ by UK press, while NME credited the Sydney band with some of the best music of 2013 alongside – you guessed it – Courtney Barnett.

You can ogle the full Glastonbury 2014 lineup below, but be forewarned, all tickets have already sold out with all 120,000 passes disappearing in just 87 minutes. Which was 13 minutes faster than last year’s event, headlined by The Rolling Stones, Arctic Monkeys, and Mumford & Sons, while all resale tickets have also been exhausted.

If you snapped up tickets – lucky you (and be sure to check out our Festival Guide for travel and insider tips) – if not, you can take solace in the fact that the timetable clashes for such a huge bill are going to be a total nightmare.
