It might still be a full nine months away, but already the first band of the Soundwave 2015 lineup has been confirmed.

As with most news related to the festival, the lineup ‘leak’ comes via the ever-active twitter feed of Soundwave boss AJ Maddah, who has welcomed an Aussie band to the bill.

Ne Obliviscaris, a self-described “progressive/extreme/melodic metal (with violin)” six-piece from Melbourne, managed to make their way onto the Soundwave 2015 lineup with not much more than a well-timed tweet about the follow-up to their 2012 debut LP, Portal of I.

Writing to Maddah about their just-mixed second studio album and forthcoming world tour, Ne Obliviscaris note “SW15 could fit in nicely if keen to have us?”
The promoter’s simple reply? “Welcome to SW 15 guys!” Adding in another tweet, “Hit me up 1st week og[sic] June and we’ll get things locked away.”

As for the rest of the Soundwave 2015 lineup, Maddah has previously stated that it “is coming along quite rapidly” with rumours already heating up for next year’s edition of the hard and heavy event. Some band names tossed about already include Disturbed, Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Fear Factory, Social Distortion, Papa Roach, Slipknot, Marilyn Manson, Opeth, Lamb Of God, and many more.

But it’ll still be a few months wait before the official lineup announcement, slated to drop sometime in August

Though the festival also had its problems in Adelaide, where it was reportedly fined $10,000 over volume breaches and Maddah hinting that the festival may not return to the SA capital if it is blocked from using the city’s Bonython Park festival site for next year’s edition.

In related news, Maddah has hinted he may be losing another major Aussie festival from his folio, indicating earlier this week that the Vans Warped Tour was “looking unlikely for this year” following what was an “attendance disaster” for the punk and hardcore festival in Coffs Harbour and Canberra last December.  Since then however, some extra tweets this week makes Maddah sound more optimistic about the festivals’ future, replying to one fan asking “will next week be a defnite yah or nah on Warped?” with a blank ‘Yes‘.
