It’s been a pretty intense year for Australia and live music venues, having seen both the arrival and the departure of many musician performing spaces. Thankfully today, we report on three new live music venues on our shores, and you’re going to love them.

The first is situated in Brisbane, named the Brooklyn Standard. The new spot is on the super-hip Eagle Lane, oozing the forever timeless and effortlessly cool NYC spirit, as The Urban List point out.

In terms of live tunes, the Brooklyn-inspired joint promises to guest a variety of sounds, including funk, soul, blues, and rockabilly. The Brooklyn Standard opens today, keep your eyes on their official Facebook page for any upcoming events.

The second piece of wondrous live music news finds itself in the streets of Melbourne, where a suave Cuban themed pop-up bar named El Coco opened on King Street courtesy of the guys at Bacardi Rum and JBS.

This limited time only venue serves up delicious food from Fitzroy favourite Hammer & Tong, and most importantly is throwing free summer parties that will see performances from the likes of Waving At Trains, Grant Carmov, Sleep D and many more.

Last, but very not least, sees Sydney gain a live music too. Housed in the Kings Cross Hotel where the iconic FBi Social once called home, will now sees the Bandroom throw open its doors, as The Music reports.

Spread over two floors, the centrally located venue has already witnessed performances from the likes of Spookyland and Tim Fitz, with the intention of fostering up-and-coming talent.

Kings Cross Hotel’s Elliot Solomon commented on this, “Before, the room was mainly used on Friday and Saturday nights so we thought it would be a fantastic opportunity to help nurture local talent by working with local music schools and organisations to allow their students to perform in our incredible space.”
