If you’ve been living under a rock, Coachella, one of the world’s biggest music festival and the official start of the US summer festival season, kicked off in Indio, California last week, instantly dominating culture headlines and Instagram feeds.

This year saw a very healthy influx of Aussies make their way over to Coachella, including headliners AC/DC, as well as psych-rockers Tame Impala, Angus & Julia Stone, Chet Faker, What So Not, and Alison Wonderland.

To help fans get an idea of just what it’s like for our favourite Aussie artists behind the scenes at Coachella, we decided to piece together a list of all the rad things the performing artists have been getting up to both during the event and outside.

AC/DC Showed The Hipsters How It’s Done

While in recent years Coachella has developed a reputation as being a playground for trustafarians and cashed-up hipsters looking to make the scene, AC/DC showed everybody, including the other acts on the lineup, how this whole rock and roll thing is done, bringing over 30 years’ experience to the stage.

Tame Impala Debuted New Music

Of all the great albums set to drop in 2015, Tame Impala’s Currents is easily one of the most highly anticipated. The band surprised many during Coachella’s first weekend by giving some brand-spankin’ new tunes their live debut.

Angus & Julia Stone Showed Why They’re The Perfect Summer Band

It’s almost as though Angus & Julia Stone were born to play Coachella – they look the part and their sound is the perfect crystallisation of everything summer, with its chilled-out, beachside vibes. They proved themselves to be the perfect summer festival band with their Coachella set.

Chet Faker Won Over The Coachella Crowd With Style

While Chet Faker is seriously hot property Down Under, the Americans aren’t as familiar with the bearded crooner as we are (unless he topped their Hot 100 and no one told us about it). Not to worry, Chet managed to put on a blistering set that had everyone cheering once he dropped his big number.

Alison Wonderland Partied With The Stars

Alison Wonderland has been going from strength to strength lately, selling out tours and dropping hot singles, as well as a well-received full-length debut, and her first shows in North America were very well received. There’s no use denying it, the girl is set for stardom and she’s already begun hanging with the glitterati.

Despite performing without the golden boy of the Aussie EDM scene, Flume, What So Not, now a solo project comprised of acclaimed Sydney producer Emoh Instead, managed to put on an absolutely cracking set that got a rave reception from the crowd.

Vance Joy’s ‘Riptide’ Got A Spine-Tingling Reception

Vance Joy has been working harder than most when it comes to cracking that much-coveted American market and it looks like it’s finally paying off. Not only did the man’s signature tune receive an absolutely hair-raising reception from the crowd, everyone seemed to know the words.
