Frontier Touring have announced the cancellation of the Australian leg of Tyler, The Creator’s Cherry Bomb World Tour, which was scheduled to begin next month.

“We would much rather come to Australia when it isn’t surrounded in controversy. I love my fans there and hopefully I’ll be back soon. Don’t do drugs,” said Tyler, the Creator in a statement.

The cancellation of the divisive rapper‘s tour follows months of controversy, after activist group Collective Shout called for the rapper to have his visa denied by the Immigration Department.

Speaking to 3AW back in June, Collective Shout co-founder Melinda Tankard Reist said Tyler “advocates rape and extreme violence against women through his lyrics”.

After Tyler tweeted that he’d been banned from Australia, Collective Shout Director of Operations Coralie Alison was subject to a disturbing torrent of non-stop abuse at the hands of the rapper’s fans.

Collective Shout have not yet issued a response to the cancellation of the rapper’s tour. It is not yet clear if the cancellation is a result of visa issues.
