The organisers of Melbourne Music Week 2015 have just given music fans a sneak peek into what they have in store for this year’s event, unveiling two major international names: psychedelic rock veterans The Brian Jonestown Massacre and Berlin sound-art hero Robert Henke of Monolake fame.

In a statement, organisers said they chose these two unique acts because they hail from “two cities with world class music reputations akin to Melbourne’s own” — San Francisco and Berlin, respectively — and represent “opposite ends of the music spectrum”.

The Brian Jonestown Massacre had previously been announced for an Australian visit as part of their 25-Year Silver Jubilee Tour, but a Melbourne date was conspicuously missing from the list of dates. The Anton Newceombe-led project will perform at Melbourne Town Hall on Sunday, 15th November.

Meanwhile, Henke, who is best known for his genre-bending techno productions as Monolake, will making his way Down Under for the very first time to perform exclusively for Melbourne Music Week. He’ll be bringing his stunning Lumière show to the Melbourne Recital Centre on Thursday, 19th November.

“Year after year MMW transforms the city into a musical playground and these two acts are sure to impress audiences,” said Melbourne Music Week’s Chair of Marketing, Councillor Beverley Pinder-Mortimer.

“Melbournians are sure to be impressed by these unique performances and we look forward to the release of the full program, and the bespoke MMW flagship venue, in October.” Organisers are set to unveil a diverse array of local and international performers next month.

Melbourne Music Week 2015 is set to run from Friday, 13th November till Friday, 20th November 20th. Early bird tickets or on sale now and can be purchased via the official Melbourne Music Week website. Stay tuned to Tone Deaf for the full program when it drops next month.
