If there’s one action that embodies Australian music, it would have to be the act of sitting down in front of your telly and switching on Rage.

A staple of late night and early morning TV on the weekend, ABC’s Rage will be turning 30 in April of next year, and to celebrate, ABC have decided to produce two documentaries about the program we’ve all come to love, and as The Music reports, one lucky winner getting to program the show on its birthday weekend.

The first documentary being produced will cover the program itself and the influence it has had on music culture in Australia. Featuring commentary from viewers and those who have appeared on the show, both as hosts and performers, it promises to be a musical history lesson that won’t put you to sleep.

The other documentary, entitled ‘Songs From The Red Couch: 30 Years Of Guest Rage Programmers’, will focus on the history of the show’s guest programmers, and the most popular and infamous videos ever to grace our screens thanks to the program.

While it’s still a few months away before Rage turns 30, you can pass some time by checking out one of the most popular videos on Rage, and one that will almost surely make the cut come April 2017, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion’s ‘2 Kindsa Love’.

Be sure to check out ABC’s programming guide for more info closer to the date.
