While we’re still reeling from the marathon slog that was 2016’s monstrous election season, it’s that time of year when we start seeing campaigns of a different kind – the push to gain your triple j Hottest 100 vote.

This year, as always, there have been plenty of amusing little pitches put together by bands, from Tash Sultana’s rather flippant encouragement to vote, to the Scorcese-esque epic from Dune Rats you’ll find below. For more, you can also check out a sample of crack-ups from last year as well.

Never one to hold his tongue, outspoken rapper Baro told his fans last year “don’t vote for me in the j hottest 100 if anything is there, I could not care less. if you really want to support me show 3 of your friends my music” – and, honestly, he makes a good point. Sharing a quick pic of your votes with your mates isn’t guaranteed to get the songs in anyone’s earholes, and we all need to keep sharing music in person too, rather than just on social media.

Having said that, voting is still open (some of us are still struggling to narrow it down), so maybe some of the impressive efforts below will win your hearts, minds and ears before the voting is done.

Dune Rats

Dune Rats came out swinging with this one, a minute’s worth of bonkers nonsense we’d expect from the lads in which they implore you to vote for Chet Faker and claim fans all across the animal kingdom. Good effort, for sure.

The Jezabels

This is some very, very enthusiastic dancing to sway you and your vote in The Jezabels’ favour, the swaying of arms and tapping of feet almost… hypnotic. Urge to vote for ‘Pleasure Drive’… rising.

Trophy Eyes

Now either this was a very unfortunate accident that just happened to produce some incredibly coincidental results, or this took some time and effort – pretty much a work of art.

Tash Sultana

Take this how you will, but Tash seems incredibly stoked to be racking up so much love in the countdown, with a top ten finish for breakout hit ‘Jungle’ a very real possibility. Not quite crossing your fingers then, Tash?

Amy Shark

And, of course, a genuine expression of gratitude (and probably disbelief) from the emerging dark horse Amy Shark, who some are predicting will pip massive favourite Flume to the post with her recent mega-hit ‘Adore’.

Olympia

The guitar-wielding legend spares a thought for poor frequent-flyer Sandy, who clearly doesn’t rate Olympia’s vox as highly as her guitar-work.

Polographia

We’re not sure what the thinking was here, but Polographia have used some very advanced editing techniques to change themselves, Animorphs-style, into Tom Hanks roasting on an open fire.
