With the 2016 Hottest 100 countdown no doubt still ringing through the halls of the triple j studios, Norwegian singer-songwriter AURORA has this morning stepped into the fray to bring us her cover of a Massive Attack classic.

‘Teardrop’, known for its ever-so-slightly creepy video clip shot entirely in the womb (okay, not quite) – as well as for being the theme song for House – gets tackled by the singer in enthralling fashion, building slowly but surely over the track’s signature percussive heartbeat.

It’s ultimately quite a stripped-back rendition anchored around gorgeous three-part harmonies and that incessant beat, achieving quite a lot with very little – much like the original. Not breaking the mould by any stretch, then, but undeniable in its rich, pristine vocal performance.

It’s been a gentle start to the Like A Version covers this year, with Julia Jacklin and Phantogram also going the soft route with their covers of The Strokes and Radiohead respectively – give the latest a look below.
