After six years as one of Melbourne’s finest live rock bands, local favourites Loon Lake announced they will be calling it a day after embarking on a national farewell tour, with dates set for venues around the country later this month.

“I’m so proud that we got to record another album before we disbanded. About a year ago Dan (our original lead guitarist) left the band as he had to move interstate. We were going to call it a day then, but the four remaining members made a pact to each other to make another album before we finish,” says guitarist Simon Nolan.

“We got our drum tech Ricky to jump on the drums and for Nick to take on the lead guitar. Over the course of the last year we have been just slowing plodding along and recording songs when we got the opportunity. We made a couple rules for these recording, but mainly it was not too ‘overthink’ it.”

“We have just received most of the masters back over the last week or so. We are stoked. It is exactly what we imagined. It is raw, unbridled, splashed with blemishes, yet real.”

“We know it’s not going to get us a private island in the Bahamas, but it’s from us to our friends, family and most importantly our fans to say ‘thank you for supporting Loon Lake over the years’.”

Before they call it a day, however, the Sime and the rest of the boys have gone ahead and shared some of their favourite highlights from their six years of writing, recording, rehearsing, touring, and doing their best to stay out of trouble.
