We’re well into the new year, the summer is certainly heating up, and we reckon there’s no better way to celebrate the incredible weather and a good start to year than by checking out some of the awesome local bands and artists that are slated to hit the highways in the coming months. Among the most notable are Gang Of Youths, Hellions, Horroshow, Jakubi, Marlon Williams, The Beards, and The Ocean Party, all of whom recently announced dates that are set to kick off soon.

Hellions

With the release of their highly anticipated new album, Indian Summer, just a matter of weeks away, Hellions have announced they are getting back to what they do best and hitting the road for a national headline tour in support the release, which is set to kick off in Brisbane on Friday, 6th March 2015. The band have also promised that West Australian dates will be announced shortly.

Jakubi

2014 was a landmark year for eclectic Melbourne collective Jakubi and it looks as though the best is still yet to come. Having toured across two continents and three countries, including Australia, the US, and Canada, the band have now announced that they are the newest addition to the esteemed Create / Control family. The band also have a new EP titled Holiday to unveil, which slated for release Friday, 23rd January. The release’s debut singles, ‘Can’t Afford It All’ and ‘Holiday’, both reached #1 on Hype Machine charts and the band are celebrating with a new national tour kick off later this month.

Following a seriously hectic end to the year, which saw The Ocean Party extensively touring their latest album, Soft Focus, around Australia and the United States, the band have absolutely no intention to put a stop to their incredible momentum. There are few more electrifying or talked-about hip-hop entities in Australia than Horrorshow. Having recently sold out acoustic shows in Sydney and Brisbane, the rest of the country has been waiting for the crew to take their unforgettable unplugged performances on the road for an intimate national tour. The dynamic DJ-MC duo have now announced that they will be stripping back the roaring sub bass and booming PAs and bringing the core of their songs back into focus, stressing their intricate flows, instrumentation, and singing. Just before everybody broke for the Christmas break, beloved Sydney outfit Gang of Youths were still busy doing what they do best and unveiled their brand new video for single ‘Benevolence Riots’, which has been getting some serious love over at Triple J. The clip came ahead of their East Coast single tour, which is set to kick off later this week at Brisbane’s famous Black Bear Lodge. If you needed any more indication that 2015 is set to be a huge year for Gang of Youths, the band have also just been announced as part of the sold-out lineup for the highly anticipated 2015 instalment of Secret Garden Festival next month.

Collarbones

Following a momentous 2014, trans-Australian outfit Collarbones are slated to hit the road for a four-date album launch tour this February to celebrate the release of Return, their third and most accomplished full-length effort to date. One of Australia’s most unique outfits — members Travis Cook and Marcus Whale live in Adelaide and Sydney respectively — the duo have not let distance stop them from co-writing and producing three acclaimed full-length albums together, and now the pair will link up to play shows in Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Perth.
