Super-composer Andrew Lloyd Webber is eyeing off Abbey Road studios.

As EMI revealed its plans to sell off the studio last week, it seems that the British public, not to mention music fans, are getting behind a campaign to ‘save’ it. Lloyd Webber, composer of Jesus Christ Superstar, Cats, The Phantom of the Opera and one of Britain’s richest men said through his spokesperson “Andrew Lloyd Webber is very interested in buying Abbey Road Studios.” It also seems that the government is considering listing the building as Grade II status with English Heritage to avoid it being turned into flats by developers.

Fans, admirers and former employees are among the thousands joining the Facebook group, with the intention of saving the iconic Abbey Road Studios from the hands of potential property developers.
