In yet another moment of pure Spinal Tap, AC/DC have apparently been fined in Romania for failing to pay a road toll and were then banned from leaving the country. They had played a show in Bucharest and were heading through the remote Romanian countryside on their way to another show in Italy when they were pulled over near the Hungarian border, where authorities told their drivers they had to pay a fee or they would be prevented from leaving the country.

A spokesperson for the country’s roads authority told Agence France-Presse “The band’s caravan was stopped at the border with Hungary by employees of the national roads company who asked them to pay 50 Euros ($60/£40) for each vehicle or a total of 2,500 Euros, before they were allowed to leave the country.” The tour manager sprang for the cash but the band have sent a letter to the authority in question claiming they were not issued a receipt for the €2,500 ($AU4,000) fine.
