AC/DC bassist Cliff Williams has revealed he will be “backing off of touring and recording” following the completion of the band’s current Rock or Bust world tour in an interview with Gulfshore Life.

AC/DC has lost several longtime members in recent years, beginning with the departure of founding guitarist Malcolm Young in 2014, who was forced to retire from the group due to dementia. Drummer Phil Rudd left soon after.

Rudd spent much of 2015 battling legal troubles and living under house arrest, whilst frontman Brian Johnson, who’s been with the band since the death of iconic singer Bon Scott, was forced to quit the band this year due to hearing issues.

Johnson was replaced with Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose, who will front the band for the remainder of the Rock or Bust tour, which will conclude in September following a run of North American cities.

“It’s been what I’ve known for the past 40 years, but after this tour I’m backing off of touring and recording,” Williams told Gulfshore Life. “Losing Malcolm, the thing with Phil and now with Brian, it’s a changed animal. I feel in my gut it’s the right thing.”
