AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson has delivered an audio message to fans of the band in Sweden, who have rallied together to raise funds for Alzheimer dementia research, on behalf of Malcolm Young.

Young was forced to leave AC/DC in 2014 after his dementia worsened to the point where playing wasn’t feasible. Johnson has also left the band, after the threat of permanent hearing loss made it impossible to go on.

AC/DC Machine Gathering 2017, is a Swedish event to raise funds to aid research into dementia. Johnson was clearly moved by this, and delivered a message to the organisers.

“I just want to say, I’m so proud of what you’re doing for the Alzheimer dementia research”, Johnson said. “As you know we have a wounded soldier, Malcolm and I think what you’re doing to raise the awareness of everyone about this dreadful disease is just absolutely fabulous.

“I know Malcolm would be so proud of you. I am and I want to thank you for doing this. We’ve tried to tell people about this awful disease, tried to get a cure for it. You guys are helping and I’m so proud of you.”
