Following on from the devastating attack on concertgoers at last week’s Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, the singer has released an official statement on the events, and announced a benefit show for the victims.

Following last week’s attack which claimed 22 lives and left 59 injured, Grande took to Twitter to share a brief, but emotional personal response to the events in which she simply stated “Broken. From the bottom of my heart, I am so so sorry. I don’t have words.”

Only a few hours ago, Grande again took to Twitter to issue a lengthy statement regarding the attacks. “My heart, prayers and deepest condolences are with the victims of the Manchester Attack and their loved ones,” the statement begins. “There is nothing I or anyone can do to take away the pain you are feeling or to make this better. However, I extend my hand and heart and everything I possibly can give to you and yours, should you want or need my help in any way.”

The full statement goes into detail about the events that happened, and how strong the survivors and the communities affected by the incident are. “The compassion, kindness, love, strength and oneness that you’ve shown one another this past week is the exact opposite of the heinous intentions it must take to pull of something as evil as what happened Monday,” the statement said. “YOU are the opposite. I am sorry for the pain and fear that you must be feeling and for the trauma that you, too, must be experiencing.”

The singer also confirmed that she would return to Manchester again in the near future to organise a benefit concert for those affected by the incident. Although details are yet to be confirmed, the singer promised to keep fans and those interested up to date as information is finalised.
