As we’ve previously written, song choice is everything when it comes to a successful triple j Like A Version. Of course, every potential song choice has its pros and its cons and risk management always comes into play.

One of the most ambitious moves a band or artist can make is to pick an inarguably famous and iconic song and put their own spin on it. That’s just the sort of ballsy move that Art Vs Science attempted and pulled off this morning.

The Sydney trio decided to take on the Metallica classic ‘Enter Sandman’ — a song that boasts one of the most famous riffs of all time — and totally funkified it, putting their twisted electronic spin on the heavy metal staple.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, we just can’t get over the level of talent that’s been on display during this year’s Like A Version series, especially from homegrown bands and artists like Dorsal Fins, with their cover of Kate Ceberano’s ‘Pash’ and E^st’s recent cover of The Verve’s ‘Bittersweet Symphony’.

We’ve also seen some rousing calls-to-arms, an alt-rock mash-up that blew us away, some ambitious takes on mega-tunes by the likes of FKA twigs, Jamie xx, and Fatboy Slim, as well as a raw take on a homegrown anthem.
