Whether you obsessively gather round each year to watch the bizarre spectacle that is Eurovision, or you find the whole thing a bit naff, there’s no doubting that Dami Im helped to put Australia on the map last year with a blinder of a performance that led her to a runner-up spot and kick-started an international career.

Sadly, the popular colour-commentary of our own Julia Zemiro and Sam Pang will be missing this year, but once again Australia will be (controversially) competing at the supposedly European event, and our representative has just been announced.

While we were hoping to see Nollsie follow in Guy Sebastian’s footsteps and rep us on the global stage, or the sardonic Aus-infused glam of Nick Allbrook, we’ll have to settle for the 17-year-old X Factor Australia winner Isaiah Firebrace, who was the final winner of the ‘talent’ show before its thankful axing.

SBS have given us all a peek at the pop ballad he’ll be deploying on our behalf, ‘It Don’t Come Easy’, below. Call us unpatriotic, but we think we might find ourselves barracking for Finland or someone this year.
