Countless numbers of tourists have had their photo taken there, the nearby walls are adorned with graffiti left by fans from all over the world, four blokes once infamously had their photos taken crossing it. Yes, the iconic Abbey Road pedestrian zebra crossing has received heritage status from the UK Government.

In a move that will please Beatles fans worldwide, preservation body English Heritage has listed the bit of asphalt with white paint on parts of it as a Grade II site. John Penrose, Minister for Tourism and Heritage said “This London zebra crossing is no castle or cathedral but, thanks to the Beatles and a 10-minute photoshoot one August morning in 1969, it has just as strong a claim as any to be seen as part of our heritage.”
