With a mammoth 50+ acts and speakers already confirmed, BIGSOUND, is already living up its name, but now with yet another 50 bands and keynote addresses added, they may have to rename the music event to better reflect its mammoth scale.
The annual music conference for and by musicians, international industry leaders and hundreds of decision-makers around Australasia, is the perhaps the biggest and most important gathering of the music industry in the souther hemisphere (earning it the tag of ‘the Australian SXSW‘), and a key event in the annual calendar for exposing and breaking emerging artists.
Now BIGSOUND Live have added to the already enormous lineup that includes the likes of Kate-Miller Heidke, Violent Soho, Oliver Tank, The Aston Shuffle, Closure In Moscow, Ball Park Music, Henry Wagons, Strange Talk and Emperors. As well as the legendary David Bridie, The Beards, Catherine Britt, and luring international acts like ex-Starsailor frontman James Walsh (UK), Toronto mavericks The Darcys (Canada), British act All the Young (UK) and Cairo Knife Fight (NZ) among others.

CLARE BOWDITCH will be performing live as well as delivering a keynote address, leading the charge on a batch of Australian talent that includes HEROES FOR HIRE, RUFUS, LOON LAKE, DALLAS FRASCA, JASMINE RAE, SETH SENTRY and ELECTRIC EMPIRE joining a final tally of 120 artists providing a depth and variety of musical selections for music lvoers across two nights in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley on September 12 and 13.
The BIGSOUND conference lineup also gains a large boost to its numbers, running from September 12-14 with a bevy of speakers from around the globe, including David Adams from Soundcloud, Steve Whilton of LastFM, Martin Elbourne representing UK’s Glastonbury and Great Escape festivals, Big Day Out’s Ken West, Bluesfest’s Peter Noble, Joe Porn of Music Glue and The Windish Agency’s Ben Buchanan all appearing alongside an already strong list of agents and bookers.
That’s not all, producers like Nick DiDia, Mark Moffat, Steve Schram and Scott Horscroft will also be speaking, while label reps from TryTransgressive (UK), Ark Recordings (UK), Six Shooter (Canada), Epitaph, EMI, Warner, Inertia and many more joining the list of key speakers we can expect from this year’s outing. Such as keynotes from Australian musicians Ben Lee and David Bridie, as well as ARIA Chart Club’s Mark Poston, Jack White’s Third Man Records lad, Ben Swank, Spotify’s Rene Chambers, band booker Richard Moffat and many, many more.
Its an epic lineup to say the least, as impressive as most major music festivals and plenty of industry professionals offering their insight and wisdom to boot. If you only attend one Australian music event this year, you cannot go wrong with BIGSOUND.
