An Australian tour for Bjork and her critically acclaimed Biophilia could be on the cards after Vivid Live accidentally activated a Google AdWords campaign relating to the Icelandic singer over the weekend.

According to FasterLouder, search results in Google for ‘Bjork Australian tour 2012’, ‘Bjork Australia’, and ‘Bjork Vivid’ all pointed to the official Vivid Live website.

The apparent stuff up adds further fuel to the fire that Bjork will headline after comments from the head of contemporary music at the Opera House, Fergus Linehan, indicated that Bjork and her Biophilia project particularly were at the top of the festivals wish list.

The effort and scale of bringing such a show to Australia was part of the reason that the festival decided to drop its guest-curator model that saw the likes of Brian Eno, couple Laurie Anderson and Lou Reed, and head of Modular Steve Pavlovic take the reins in their respective years.

Linehan said in a statement to the media a few weeks back that bringing Bjork’s show to Australia was something that would have been impossible under the old model because every time a new curator came in everything was reset back to zero.

But has there been enough time to bring it to our shores this year? A quick look at Bjork’s international touring dates reveals a nearly three-week gap between her appearance at Sonar Festival in Brazil on May 12th and Primavera Sound Festival on May 30th.

Could that gap give the Icelandic songstress enough time to saunter down under for a few performances at the Opera House? The festival is expected to run from May 25th to June 3rd, which wouldn’t leave a huge amount of time for Bjork to get back to Brazil.

It does leave a nice gap however if Bjork were to travel to Australia and play a couple of headline shows around the country before finishing off at Vivid in Sydney and flying back to Brazil.

So far Sufjan Stevens is the only confirmed act for Vivid Live, but we won’t have to wait long to be put out of our misery. The full lineup is expected to be announced on March 15th.

UPDATE 13th March 2012: Head of Contemporary Music at the Opera House, Fergus Linehan, has responded to the rumour today speaking to The Music Network saying, “On this occasion, as you can see from her schedule, there are no plans for Bjork to perform at Sydney Opera House in 2012,” Linehan told TMN. “Needless to say, we’d love to welcome her back at some stage in the future.”
