With Byron Bay Bluesfest 2015 set to descend on the famous Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm this April and the annual Bluesfest drip feed rapidly adding quality local and international acts the already massive lineup, organisers have now announced a new round of Bluesfest sideshows. Kicking things off is Hawaii-based singer-songwriter Donavon Frankenreiter, who has a massive 17-date tour to announce, renowned reggae masters SOJA and our very own Blue King Brown, finishing off with one very special sideshow from JJ Grey & Mofro, and some highly anticipated dates from Dispatch.

Donavon Frankenreiter

Accomplished musician, surfer, and moustachioed hero, Donavon Frankenreiter will soon be bringing his timeless tunes and quick-witted humour Down Under for a tour focusing on the great surf towns of the country and regional Australia, anticipating a richer experience of people and place than the standard capital-city run that most international acts stick to. Frankenreiter will be performing material from his fifth full-length album, Start Livin’, the follow-up to 2010’s popular Glow, as well as plenty of old fan favourites.

SOJA + Blue King Brown

Washington DC reggae favourites SOJA have been busy touring their special blend of reggae, go-go, D.C. hardcore, Latin, rock, and hip-hop around the world since releasing 2002’s Peace in a Time of War. The band have headlined shows in over 20 countries, sharing stages with everyone from Dave Matthews Band to Incubus. JJ Grey & Mofro

JJ Grey has announced one very special Bluesfest sideshow for Sydney’s The Basement on Monday, 6th April. JJ began touring as Mofro in the late ’90s, with fans slowly but surely catching on to his brand of Steve-Cropper-meets-George-Clinton lyrical directness and backbeats. Grey’s latest release was recorded with a view to capturing the fierceness and intimacy that defines a Grey live performance. “I wanted that crucial lived-in feel,” said Grey says of Ol’ Glory and he’s well and truly hit his mark.

Dispatch

Here’s what Dispatch had to say about their first trip to Australia: “For years we’ve wanted to perform in Australia! Here we are, 15 years deep into our musical career and it’s FINALLY time. We can hardly wait to get over there in 2015 and play songs spanning our whole career for you – we promise it will be worth the wait! See you soon!” Their live shows are equally filled with energy and enthusiasm, with the band encouraging massive audience participation, going the extra mile to make sure every audience leaves their shows satisfied and with plenty of great memories.
