Shortly after delivering yet another massive set of lineup additions, Bluesfest have just been nominated for International Music Festival of the Year in the prestigious 2016 Annual Pollstar Awards.

This marks the fifth year in a row and seventh time overall that the beloved Byron Bay celebration of blues, roots, folk, rock, and reggae has been nominated for one of the events industry’s most coveted awards.

The 27th Byron Bay Bluesfest took place earlier this year with a boundary-pushing lineup that brought together the likes of Kendrick Lamar, The National, Brian Wilson, Tom Jones, D’Angelo, and many more.

The event earned Bluesfest a nomination alongside The Barclaycard British Summer Time Hyde Park (UK), Glastonbury Festival (UK), Lollapalooza Berlin (Germany), Primavera Sound (Spain), and Rock Werchter (Belgium).

“Bluesfest is proud to be nominated for this prestigious award for the 5th year in a row!” said founder Peter Noble. “We are in good company alongside Glastonbury once again – they are the only other festival to receive as many nominations this decade.”

“This accolade is awarded by our industry peers, who we would like to thank for their ongoing support. Now let’s knock off the Holy Grail and see this award won by someone outside the UK for the first time in history!”

“Fingers crossed, but I’m not holding my breath.” Meanwhile, Australian music industry veteran Michael Chugg has been nominated for Pollstar’s International Promoter of the Year Award.
