Sib Hashian, former drummer for the band Boston, has collapsed and died on stage while performing in the Carribbean on the Legends Of Rock Cruise. He was 67.

Hashian’s son Adam confirmed his father’s death, saying he suddenly collapsed mid-set. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.

Hashian drummed on the first two Boston albums, which were both massively successful, before lawsuits, money and infighting caused the line-up to disintegrate.

The band’s debut album is one of the best-selling in history, moving a remarkable 25 million copies worldwide. Their debut single, ‘More Than A Feeling’ is a classic rock staple, and was definitely the riff-spiration for ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’.

Hashian has a son and two daughters. Interestingly, his daughter Lauren gave birth to a little girl in 2015, who was fathered by none other than Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.

While it’s undoubtedly sad that Hashian passed away, there is perhaps no finer death for a stadium rocker than to pass onstage while doing a Legends of Rock cruise gig with members of Boston, Foreigner, Beach Boys, and Kansas.

Crank this gem in honour of Hashian’s impressive career. RIP.
