Japandroids had actually broken up when their debut album Post Nothing started to gain recognition through a mixture of blogs and word-of-mouth. They figured they should take advantage, so they reformed and started touring, while working on their second album – the critically-acclaimed beast Celebration Rock.

That second album came out in 2012, and since then they have toured the world, received almost universal adulation, and written and recorded their third album, Near To the Wild Heart Of Life – which you can now listen, over at NPR. It’s been a long while coming, but it’s well worth the wait; and at a tight 36 minutes, too – these guys know how to get in, do the work, and get back out again.

The record is out officially on January 27, by which point you’ll no doubt know all the lyrics.
