Sad news has reached the world of punk music today, with news that Cel Revuelta, the last bass player for Black Flag’s original run, has passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer.

As Pitchfork reports, the news was broken to fans via a GoFundMe page set up by Revuelta’s family, with former bandmate Henry Rollins confirming the news later on Facebook.

Despite news breaking of this only today thanks to Henry Rollins sharing of the page on Facebook, it’s unclear exactly when Revuelta passed away, as the GoFundMe page was originally set up back in February to help with costs of his ongoing cancer treatment.

Cel Revuelta was the last bass player during the original run of the band, which included Henry Rollins on vocals and Greg Ginn on guitar. He also took place in the group’s reunion in 2003, which was fronted by skater Mike Vallely and Dez Cadena. In addition to not playing on any of the group’s official releases, very little is known about the musician, with very few pictures and footage being taken of him. However, as Pitchfork confirms, he was featured in the group’s documentary Reality 86’d
