Mac DeMarco was the musical guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Friday night, appearing to promote his new album This Old Dog, and his appearance has managed to get the whole Internet talking about how downright amazing it was.

While many Aussie fans have been lucky to bear witness to the brilliant live shows that DeMarco performs, which are usually equal parts crazily irreverent, and downright soulful, his recent appearance on The Tonight Show seems almost enough to put DeMarco into the category of a moden-day superstar. Prefacing his performance by saying DeMarco’s new album is “going to win some awards,” Fallon himself seemed absolutely awestruck at the brilliant performance by DeMarco.

As Noisey reports, DeMarco’s performance saw him swaying around the stage “like a cross between Morrissey, Future Islands’ Samuel T Herring, a parody crooner, and a drunk. He cackled in between phrases and threw his mic from hand to hand with an absurd grin, but never let his hushed phrasing waver.”

While Aussie fans have been waiting a little while for old mate Mac to make his way back to our shores, we’ve heard rumours from the man himself that he might be making a trip our way at the end of the year. Either way, we’re pretty keen to see this sort of performance live. Check out his performance below.
