A fledging new Aussie music festival is spreading its wings and reaching for the sky with the announcement of a blockbuster lineup including Chet Faker, Matt Corby, British India, and AllDay.

Vanfest, first held in May this year, is returning for another round of live music action, and promises to be the biggest party ever seen in Central West NSW.

Headlining the event is none other than electronica and trip-hop crooner, Chet Faker, who needs little introduction after his first full album, Built on Glass was released in April earlier this year after a hugely popular collaborative EP with Flume and his single ‘Talk is Cheap’ debuted at #1 on the ARIA Charts.

Also headlining is indie rock and folk songster, Matt Corby, whose fourth EP, Into the Flame propelled him into the ARIA charts and earned him a 6x platinum record. His 2011 single ‘Brother’ and 2013 single ‘Resolution’ have both won ARIA Music Awards for Song of the Year.

The two artists are joining an already stellar, all-Aussie line-up for Vanfest with musicians from a diverse and eclectic range of genres.

Sydney’s dance icons Sneaky Sound System, Bag Raiders and Van She will be playing, along with rapper Allday whose debut album recently landed in the #3 spot on the ARIA Albums chart.

Forbes local and finalist of The Voice in 2013, Celia Pavey will be making a grand homecoming alongside hot band of the minute, OXBLVD, who were formed in Sydney but whose hearts seem to belong in the Mississippi with their style of swamp rock and foot-stomping Delta blues.

Melbourne-based garage rockers and festival regulars, British India round out the impressive lineup, fresh from a national tour, supporting rock legends, The Rolling Stones.

Vanfest is the brainchild of father and son team Grant and Matt Clifton. Grant is a Forbes local who owns and runs The Vandenberg Hotel, and Matt is a city dweller who owns and runs Donny’s Bar in Manly. Father and son first held Vanfest in May earlier this year, taking over The Vandenberg and bringing live music and DJs to the region for the first time.

The one night only event was such a huge success that the Cliftons couldn’t resist taking it further and making Vanfest into a massive outdoor festival, which has already attracted a huge list of names of Australian artists and musicians.

“Dad and I are blown away that musicians of the calibre of Chet Faker and Matt Corby are getting set to come along and play in Forbes for Vanfest. I can’t wait to bring the party to Forbes, where the locals have never really been able to enjoy these kind of musical acts so close to home,” said Matt Clifton.

For those who want the ultimate festival experience, Vanfest will also host a campground adjacent to the festival site dubbed Van-City. Standard tent camping in Van-City for the night will only cost a mere $12 per person, with the price for vehicles (caravans, campervans, utes, wagons) being only $40 for the night.

Vanfest is also providing a range of helpful transport options from Sydney and surrounding towns including Dubbo, Orange, Bathurst and Wagga Wagga to help you make your way to the festival. Coaches will run to the festival from these towns, offering a one-way or return ticketing option, and overnight bags, tents and swags will be accepted on the Sydney and Wagga Wagga coaches.

The all-day event, running from 2:30pm until 11:30pm on December 6 will feature all the trimmings you’d expect to see at the big city music festivals. There’ll be plenty of activities around the grounds on festival day, as well as VIP tents, wet bars, meet and greets, preferred parking and much more.

Whether you live down the road, or you’re a music-loving Sydney-sider looking for the perfect weekend away from the big smoke, Vanfest has something for everyone. Help support the local Forbes community and bring all your friends along to the party of the year in NSW’s Central West.
