Just yesterday we were treated to a wonderful clip for Chris Cornell’s final track released before his death, ‘The Promise‘, and now we’ve heard that the late Soundgarden singer will be appearing on an upcoming Johnny Cash project.

Named Forever Words: The Music, the record will feature readings of Cash’s poems – taken from the 2016 book Forever Words: The Unknown Poems – set to music, and Cornell will be one of the artists who will presumably be reading them alongside Jewel, T-Bone Burnett, Kacey Musgraves, Brad Paisley and more.

As Pitchfork notes, it’s not an unusual pairing at all, with Cash having covered Soundgarden classic ‘Rusty Cage’ on his 1996 album Unchained, and even performed the track live on Jay Leno’s talk show, which you can watch below.
