April Fools!

*MIC DROP* #LikeAVersion with City Calm Down

City Calm Down are one of Australia’s most promising young indie bands. Signed to I OH YOU, one of the hottest labels in the country, the band have been on a hot streak of capitalising on all their promise with sold-out shows and a ripper of an album.

So just what was the much-loved Melbourne outfit thinking when they decided to drop a mess of a recorder solo during their triple j Like A Version cover of the Dr Dre classic ‘The Next Episode’? Since when does anyone like the recorder? Exactly!

Oh wait… yeah, our bad, we just checked the calendar and it turns out this whole thing was an April Fool’s Day prank. The band’s actual Like A Version cover was a rather deft and moody rendition of Foals’ ‘Spanish Sahara’ and you can check it out below.

As we’ve previously mentioned, this year’s Like A Version series has gotten off to an interesting start – we’ve seen a heart-wrenching David Bowie cover, an ambitious mash-up from this year’s Hottest 100 winners, a revamp of a Hottest 100 favourite, and what was maybe the most un-triple j Like A Version ever.
