If we ever needed more proof that Lorde is basically us, just famous, well, it’s been confirmed that Lorde has her own secret Instagram account… dedicated solely to reviewing onion rings. That’s right.
Internet sleuths thought they were onto something pretty huge a few days back when someone found the Instagram account @onionringsworldwide (which has since been deleted and resurrected by someone else), which had only a small amount of followers, Lorde included. Folks started realising that these reviews of onion rings were occurring in places which coincided with Lorde’s tour schedule, and soon enough, the conspiracy theory was born.
Lorde appeared on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon last night to promote her new record Melodrama, when the topic was raised. Almost instantly, Lorde admitted that it was her account, and that she was the mysterious onion ring lover.
“I naively didn’t realise that it would be a thing that I was going to different places and trying the onion rings at each of those places,” Lorde explained. “I feel like it reads as the sort of thing a pop star would do to look relatable, which it wasn’t, it was like a funny thing to do with my friends on tour, and I was like ‘this is a good past-time’.”
