We’ve all heard the old saying, “there’s no business like shoe business” (don’t look it up, it’s totally a real saying), well Dave Grohl has given new meaning to that age-old phrase after he came to the rescue of a Foo Fighters fan in crutches, gifting her his shoe.

As Alternative Press reports, the Foo Fighters were playing a show in Washington, D.C. on Thursday when a young fan walking on crutches in the backstage area caught the eye of frontman Dave Grohl.

“Dave brought him [the doctor] out once he saw that I was on crutches, and that’s when his doctor mentioned that I was supposed to wear a shoe with my brace,” the fan, named Sabryn, told Alternative Press. “I told him that my shoes didn’t fit over it because it’s pretty big and my shoes are kinda small. So Dave said, ‘You need one of my big high tops!’ and I laughed it off.”

Moments later Dave Grohl did exactly what he alluded to, and ran backstage to grab the same shoe that his orthopaedist recommended he wear after famously breaking his leg during a show in Sweden in 2015.

Sabryn and her friend Kaydee, whose uncle was in charge of sound at the show, were understandably surprised by the whole event. “I wore it for the rest of the night after Dave told me to put it on,” Sabryn said. “It’s definitely one of the coolest things to ever happen, and probably the funniest.”

“If you wanted to know what we did with the shoe, it’s sitting on Kaydee’s shelf in her room because we thought it would be a nice display piece.”

While the Foo Fighters and Weezer are set to hit up Australia for a tour in January, we don’t recommend breaking your leg in hopes of meeting Dave Grohl. After all, he’s already given out his famous shoe, all he can offer now is sympathy and his legendary niceness. On second thought, that’s probably just as good.
