One of musical legend David Bowie’s most powerful and enduring songs, ‘Heroes’, is set to be reissued as a limited edition picture-disc single in honour of the song’s 40th anniversary.

As NME reports, the song will officially celebrate its 40th anniversary on September 23rd, but this 40th anniversary single will be hitting the shelves on September 22nd.

While the original single contained a B-side from the album entitled ‘V-2 Schneider’, this reissue will be see the song remastered, and backed by a live version of the song. This previously unreleased live performance, taken from T. Rex frontman Marc Bolan’s short-lived TV show Marc, was the first time that the song was ever performed live. Notably, the live version was recorded only nine days before Bolan’s death, so it holds quite a bit of significance for hardcore fans of Bowie and Bolan.

Despite all sources claiming this is a limited edition single, there is no mention of just how limited it is. We’d like to hope there will be plenty made to accomodate the demand, but you might want to get in quickly just to be safe.
