Rock purists rejoice! Following on from (finally) being recognised by the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, and having everyone from Metallica to The Flaming Lips help celebrate the 40th Anniversary of landmark 1972 release Machine Head on a tribute album; DEEP PURPLE have now announced that they’re set to tour Australia and New Zealand in February/March 2013.

With over 100 million album sales worldwide to their name and an iconic back catalogue that features the likes of ‘Smoke On The Water’, ‘Hush’, ‘Highway Star’ and countless more, the current Purple lineup of Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Steve Morse, and Don Airey continue to travel the scope of hard rock since the band’s original inception in 1968.

Following being nominated for the 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Deep Purple’s 2013 Australian tour will coincide with the release of a new studio album in 2013.

Joining the legendary rock band for their first ever Australian tour and New Zealand will be San Franciscan rock band JOURNEY.

One of the most popular American rock bands of all time, currently enjoying a revival thanks to the enduring success of ‘Don’t Stop Believin’, Journey will be delivering their swathe of hits – such as ‘Anyway You Want It’, ‘Open Arms’, and ‘Faithfully’ – to Australian audiences in support of Deep Purple.

Featuring Neal Schon (lead guitars, backing vocals), Jonathan Cain (keyboards, guitar, backing vocals), Ross Valory (bass, backing vocals), Deen Castronovo (drums, percussion, backing vocals) and Arnel Pineda (lead vocals), Journey will be following up on their hugely successful 2011 Eclipse World Tour, which earned them the prestigious Legend of Live Award at the 2011 Billboard Touring Awards.

“Things are opening up everywhere we go,” enthuses Neal Schon in a press release. “Journey is a world band now.”

Meanwhile Deep Purple vocalist Ian Gillan expressed his excitement: “What a fabulous tour. I’m really looking forward to this and want to be in the crowd! Deep Purple AND Journey? Amazing!”

Don’t miss your chance to see these two legendary rock acts share the stage in 2013!
