This morning brought the news that Matt Corby would be appearing at Splendour In The Grass this July, but fans found out he was unable to appear at his own headline performance at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney last night, just minutes before he was to take stage.

As triple j reports, support act Vera Blue had concluded her set when Corby’s manager took to the stage to announce to the sold-out crowd that the singer-songwriter had fallen ill and would not be able to perform.

“Matt was incredibly disappointed to have to cancel his performance at the Enmore Theatre tonight. He’s fallen ill, and despite his very best efforts, was unable to perform. Matt is devastated and is committed to reschedule tonight’s show for the 4th of May,” a statement reads.

“Those of you who can’t make that date will receive a full refund. You will be contacted tomorrow with details on the reschedule and refunds for those of you who can’t attend. Tonight’s tickets will be valid at the rescheduled show.”

It’s not clear yet whether Corby’s illness will affect tonight’s Enmore performance or the remainder of his tour, which is set to continue at the QPAC Theatre in Brisbane next week, before taking in Adelaide, Melbourne, and Perth.

Whilst most fans were understanding and left well wishes for the singer, some took to social media to criticise the last-miunte cancellation, including one fan who claimed to have been waiting since 2.30pm.
