Following an excruciatingly long wait — seven years to be precise — Eagles of Death Metal, the sultry collaboration between Jesse Hughes and Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme, have returned with a new single, a new album, and some hilarious artwork.

Homme made a rare live appearance alongside his brothers in Eagles of Death Metal in Paris last week and now the band have made their comeback official with the silky new single ‘Complexity’, the first taste of their upcoming fourth LP, Zipper Down.

The track bears all the hallmarks of classic Eagles of Death Metal, including all the hip-shaking rhythms and callbacks to old-school rock and roll that made albums like Peace, Love, Death Metal and Death by Sexy such modern classics.

As Rolling Stone notes, arguably the best thing about the single, however, is its incredible artwork, which features Homme and Hughes dressed as bewildered Star Trek crew members, with devil horn patches in place of the classic Starfleet insignia.

Zipper Down, the band’s first release since 2008’s Heart On, does not yet have an official release date. Meanwhile, the band are busying themselves with a European tour before they return to North America for a handful of dates in late August.

While it’s been a long time between drinks for Eagles of Death Metal, Hughes and Homme have kept pretty busy. Hughes got to work on launching a solo career under the moniker Boots Electric, while Homme released and toured behind QOTSA’s acclaimed sixth album, …Like Clockwork.
