Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder must have felt he was playing the solo set of his life in Dublin last Friday, as he reportedly paid €25,000 (that’s over $37k in AUD) so that he would be allowed to play past curfew – presumably intended to more than cover any fines the venue might be hit with.

As the NME reports, a post on the Pearl Jam forums explained how the ridiculous 32 song set was allowed to carry on for so long, claiming that after deliberations Vedder left the stage to scribble a quick cheque and keep things rolling on.

“A lad who works at the 3Arena said Eddie walked off stage and signed a cheque for €25,000 so he could keep playing,” the attendee claims and, while Vedder hasn’t confirmed it just yet, it would explain how the band were allowed to keep playing into the small hours.

The setlist (below) eventually included everything from PJ classics to Bob Dylan covers, with Vedder presumably getting so into it that he couldn’t bear the thought of letting fans leave after only, say, 24 tracks were played.
