Olympia is a homegrown talent from Melbourne who’s drawn comparisons to the likes of Sharon Van Etten, Laura Marling, and Anna Calvi. Real name Olivia Bartley, the singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist is known for her sweeping harmonies and dissonant guitar.

Beck is one of the most enduring and consistently lauded musicians ever to come out of the fertile ’90s alt-rock scene. A musical chameleon in every sense of the word, Beck has released timeless albums whilst maintaining a steadfast fidelity to his unique musical vision.

These two artists came together in the most magnificent way this morning thanks to triple j’s Like A Version. Olympia covered ‘Dreams’, the lead single off Beck’s forthcoming new album, and everyone agrees the Melbourne native hit it out of the park.

Taking a look at the reviews that are coming in via social media, everyone is loving the cover, leaving comments that range from “Nailed it” and “Was so good!” to “OMG that was so refreshing!!!!” and “Supa Hot Fire/10”.

As we’ve previously noted, this year’s Like A Version series has gotten off to an interesting start – we’ve seen a heart-wrenching David Bowie cover, an ambitious mash-up from this year’s Hottest 100 winners, a deeply divisive cover of a huge hit from 2015, and a cover that showed us what Like A Version is meant to be.
