Face The Music is less than a month away, and has unveiled the full list of live performers and over 100 industry experts who will converge on Melbourne for a two-day music industry conference in partnership with Melbourne Music Week.
This will be the first year that Face The Music will feature live music as part of its program, and they’ve locked in some absolute rippers. Joining an already-stacked lineup that includes names like JAALA, Nai Palm and Nico Ghost will be local favourites GL, Dorsal Fins and Jess Ribeiro, as well as the indefinable punk rap of Ecca Vandal, electronic talent SAATSUMA, and one of the best guitar bands in the city, Good Morning.
In addition to the newly-announced live acts, a whole stack of new speakers have been announced, including artists like Ainslie Wills and Alex Lahey, and a range of media media personalities including triple j’s Gemma Pike, and figures from various other facets of the industry.
These new additions will join the already-announced speakers including Pandora’s Alex White, Bandcamp’s Andrew Jervis, triple j’s Zan Rowe, and “the world’s busiest music nerd” Anthony Fantano, together with sign language interpreter Amber Galloway.
Panels will provide some really valuable insight into a range of vital industry matters, such as ‘Empowering Communities Through Leadership’, which will be moderated by rapper and advocate Briggs, or ‘The Idiosyncrasies of Artist Management’, which will feature a great assortment of names in Tkay Maidza, Japanese Wallpaper, and Elizabeth Mitchell of Totally Mild. Other topics covered will include ‘Women In Electronic Music’, ‘Environmental Consciousness in Music’, and ‘‘Australiana’ – A Tour Goes Under the Microscope’, an in-depth look at Peking Duk’s recent national tour.
