Father John Misty’s Australian visit isn’t even over yet, but in addition to stunning crowds at Splendour In The Grass, in Sydney, and in Melbourne tonight, he’s managed to drop some bombshell news that he’s got a new album coming out next year, and he’s even mixing it as soon as next week.

During his show at Sydney’s Metro Theatre last night, Father John Misty responded to an audience member who asked when his next record was coming out. “When’s my next album? Next year,” Misty responded to the fan. “I’m mixing it next week. It’s called Pure Comedy 2.”

While we’re pretty certain that the title is a joke, this is still pretty exciting news. Considering that Father John Misty, whose real name is Josh Tillman, released his most recent record, Pure Comedy, back in April, this would be a remarkable turnaround for the prolific indie rocker. While he’s already hinted at a return tour, let’s hope he’ll be bringing some tunes from Pure Comedy 2 along with him.
