Father John Misty is hilarious. It’s not really up for debate. As far as musicians go, he’s probably up there with Noel Gallagher in terms of being a seemingly never-ending source of comedic gold. Though we must say Noel’s crown is most certainly safe.

Still, Father John Misty, real name J Tillman, could’ve had an alternative career as a comedian. First, there was that time he trolled basically the entire world’s music press with his ridiculous ‘I saw Lou Reed’s ghost’ story.

Then he turned his trolling acumen to an unfortunate and unsuspecting Aussie punter during a Sydney gig, a performance which ended with him basically performing a stand-up comedy routine for the audience lucky enough to be gathered inside the Opera House.

We also can’t forget his “rejected” Pandora promos, which gave us gems like, “You know, people ask me all the time what they can expect from my upcoming tour. I show them a picture of me on the cover of the Daily Mail, clutching a human foot, to which they respond, ‘I’m sorry, I thought you were James Bay’.”

Tillman currently has the internet in a frenzy because of his reaction to losing the BRIT Award for Best International Male Artist to Justin Bieber. As you can see in the footage below, Tillman appears to put on a faux downtrodden look when the news is announced.

This is funny in itself, but it’s simply another case of Tillman trolling the press and this time it’s unintentional. As Tillman explained in an interview with the BBC, “My publicist told me I’ve literally no chance of winning.”

Since he already knew the outcome, Tillman apparently said ‘Fuck it’ to the ceremony and was engrossed in his phone when the result was read out. “I was robbed,” he later tweeted, before adding, “Of my phone in the shot.”
