We’ve spoken about how Father John Misty might be the funniest man in contemporary music ad nauseum. Looking at some of his past antics, we really think he missed his calling as a professional comedian and Adult Swim should be in talks about a development deal ASAP.

First, there was that time he trolled basically the entire world’s music press with his ridiculous ‘I saw Lou Reed’s ghost and he told me to take the covers I did of Ryan Adams covering Taylor Swift off the internet’ story.

Then he turned his trolling acumen to an unfortunate and unsuspecting Aussie punter during a Sydney gig, a performance which ended with him basically performing a stand-up comedy routine for the audience lucky enough to be gathered inside the Opera House.

We also can’t forget his “rejected” Pandora promos, which gave us gems like, “You know, people ask me all the time what they can expect from my upcoming tour. I show them a picture of me on the cover of the Daily Mail, clutching a human foot, to which they respond, ‘I’m sorry, I thought you were James Bay’.”

Misty, real name J Tillman, was recently dining at an LA restaurant when he couldn’t help but notice the painfully awkward, tell-tale sounds of a Tinder date happening right beside him. Sensing comedy gold at his fingertips, Tillman proceeded to live tweet the whole thing.

As Music Feeds notes, Tillman begins dissecting the date as soon as he suspects the hapless couple have been brought together by the ubiquitous dating app. “Need further confirmation but pretty sure I’m sitting next to a Tindr date/// will keep you posted.”

“Dude went in strong exploiting presumed insecurities///she is talking about energy spheres///lots of mock accents happening///very steamy,” Tillman continued. “Mutually confirming length of time lived in LA///gratuitous “cheers” once drinks arrived///cross referencing potential mutual acquaintances.”

“Dude referencing numerous ways in which she is ‘refreshing’//ancient gym class anecdote///lots of gratitude//imploring not to ‘get me wrong’. She identifies as an artist but doesn’t want ‘to be that guy’//Girl from GIRLS is sitting nearby-both noticed independently of one another.”

Indeed, Girls star Lola Kirke was present in the restaurant and turned things uber-meta once she began live-tweeting Father John Misty live-tweeting. “I just watched Father John Misty play on his phone for 2 hours at a bar. Waited anxiously for his doppelgänger to come,” she wrote.

Tillman ended his live-tweeting session with a happy ending that suggests love will indeed blossom between the two diners. “She writes her own stuff///he is succeeding in a field he detests ideologically///Now they are having sex.”
