The Field Day 2014 lineup has been announced with an impressive mix of local and international artists headed to Sydney for the latest edition of the annual New Year’s Day music festival.

Presented by Listen Out/Parklife promoters Fuzzy Entertainment, Field Day has been “rescuing New Years since 2002”, and will once again set another 12 month cycle into gear at The Domain in Sydney on 1st January 1st, 2014.

With the cancellation of Harvest festival and the relocation of Homebake to the forecourt of the Sydney Opera House for its 18th birthday celebrations, Field Day remains of the few major music events still being hosted at The Domain, but the impressive 2014 lineup makes sure it won’t be the last.

Topping the bill is new wave American rap stars Wiz Khalifa and A$AP Rocky, fulfilling a Sydney apperance after the pair were already confirmed for performances at Perth’s Origin NYE, a sideshow in Melbourne, and Fuzzy’s new Surfers Paradise festival, Beachlife.

Also near the top of the bill are three bands making the trip over from the Falls Festival 2013 lineup, including Beyoncé’s indie-pop sibling Solange, blogosphere storming UK trio London Grammar, Basque indie rockers Crystal Fighters, and Liverpool pop rock threesome The Wombats, as well as Melbourne’s bearded chilltronica star Chet Faker.

Faker’s world-conquering musical pal, Sydney super-producer Flume, is also on the Field Day 2014 lineup, the pair leading an impressive roll-call of electronic-leaning Aussie acts performing come New Year’s Day; including Flume’s side-project What So Not, AMP-winning funk-hop duo Hermitude, Perth producer Ta-Ku (both on Fuzzy’s Beachlife lineup), Flight Facilities DJs, Alison Wonderland, Sydney electropop songbird Elizabeth Rose, emerging producer Cosmo’s Midnight, and electropop outfit Panama.

Rounding out the Field Day 2014 lineup with dance vibes is tastemaking UK producer Julio Bashmore, Dusky, Flux Pavilion, Jacques Greene, Kill The Noise, and Shadow Child, with more to be announced in the coming weeks.

Fuzzy director John Wall says “We started Field Day to provide a smart alternative to the letdown that new year’s eve can often turn out to be. 12 years on that’s as true as ever!”
