MONA FOMA have announced a second, bigger and super impressive line-up for the 2013 festival.
You’ve already heard that the 2013 featured artists David Byrne (ex Talking Heads) and St Vincent (aka Annie Clark) are bringing us their creative collaboration that beautifully fuses their individual sounds. In a big, brassy concert at Princess Wharf 1, they will perform their boundary-erasing new album Love This Giant (and hopefully sing each other’s songs).
Some of your favourite MOFOs are returning once again – Amanda Palmer, Neil Gaiman, Robin Fox and Nick Tsiavos, along with an atonement performance from ‘a crazy guy screaming gibberish’ (aka Death Grips) and a whole new troupe of local and international MOFOs with a blurring of Indian percussion, melodic pop, spooky poetry, Ethiopian funk, under-water drumming, party-rocking beats, postmodern bush music, and a gigantic, interactive Theremin!
Kicking off on Wednesday Jan 16 with a huge free party at PW1, along with great food (not for free) and a lineup featuring Los Coronas (Spain); Bickram Ghosh (India); Tania Bosak and the Barefoot Orchestra (Aus) and Pretty Lights (USA), with some underwater drumming and vacuum cleaners.
MOFO’s after-hours festival club, FAUX MO has expanded for 2013 and will rock on every night after the lights go up at Princes Wharf 1. There will be different acts and special performances down an alley way, up some stairs and in another secret location but that’s all we’re saying (for now).
