Graveyard Train’s Tour 2012 has just been announced in support of their upcoming third record Hollow.

Once described as “horror country drunken bearded stompy chain smashy madness … ghost stories, murder ballads and tales of redemption crooned through melodies plucked directly from the afterlife”, Graveyard Train use drums, upright bass and guitars around a swirling mix of instruments with a long history of storytelling such as washboard, steel guitar, banjo,  harmonica, whiskey and blood. As well as their infamous chain and hammer, it’s a winning combination that has seen them take their notorious live show throughout the US, Canada, UK, Europe and of course all over Australia, earning them legions of diehard fans along the way.

They have sold out venues such as The Corner Hotel, The HI-FI and The Spiegeltent and been named festival highlights by organisers and punters alike everywhere from Golden Plains, Meredith Music Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, The Vancouver Folk Festival, Hillside, Port Fairy Folk Fest, Boogie Fest, Blue Mountains Fest and Wave Rock through to the Edinburgh Fringe Fest – to name but a few.

The live show is only part of the Graveyard Train story though. To date they have released 2 full length albums, both to critical acclaim: The Serpent & The Crow (Afterdark Records 2009) and The Drink The Devil & The Dance (Spooky Records 2010).  Both albums received unanimous praise in the press and The Drink The Devil & The Dance was awarded ‘No. 1 album of 2010’ by PBS 106.7 and peaked at number 2 on the Australian Country Music Digital Charts.

Beware the localized apocalypse that is the Graveyard Train. “Hollow” will is out Fri May 11th through boutique Melbourne label Spooky Records.

‘I’m Gone’ is currently the most downloaded song on Australian radio through AMRAP’s Air It  – sitting at #1 on both their ‘Great Southern’ and ‘Now’ Charts, and Tone Deaf have already posted the awesome new clip.
