Green Day recently announced a massive Australian tour, which will see them taking on arenas around the country next April. The band will be touring in support of their latest album, Revolution Radio.

The album, which has been touted as a major return to form for the pop-punk veterans, bears a distinctive cover image depicting a burning stereo and… wait a second, is it just us or does that not sound awfully familiar?

If we didn’t know any better, we’d say that idea had already been done, really recently in fact, by a certain Australian band. Some of you may recall the original video that accompanied the release of Violent Soho’s ‘Like Soda’ earlier this year.

That clip, which featured footage of a burning stereo played in reverse, was shot by Soho bassist Luke Henery. Do we think plagiarism is afoot? Probably not. But great minds certainly seem to think alike.

Soho had their own artwork plagiarism controversy back in March after respected Sydney artist James Jirat Patradoon accused the band of ripping off the artwork for their latest album, WACO, in a since-deleted Facebook post.

The band subsequently issued a statement explaining that the situation between the band and Patradoon had been squared out. “There’s no bad blood among us and we’re all mates,” they wrote in a statement.

Violent Soho are preparing to embark on their own national tour very soon. They’re set to hit the road next week, joined by good mates The Bronx, with some extra help from local favourites Luca Brasi and Tired Lion.
