While Shannon Noll is currently extolling the virtues of coming second (“just ask me missus!”) to pubs full of drunken punters, our first Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian is instead playing to slightly larger crowds, having just made his Splendour in the Grass debut years after first becoming a household name.

He took to the Tiny Dancer Stage just as evening began to set in, joining Gold Coast producer Paces (of ‘1993’ fame) for a guest appearance in front of a responsive crowd. The collaboration came as no surprise to anyone, as the duo have been pretty tight this year, even teaming up for a pretty great Like A Version back in May.

Guy showed off the impressive pipes that landed him in first place all those years ago, and looked right at home ditching the sheen of the Idol crowd for the sweaty confines of one of Splendour’s trendiest stages.

Sorry Nollsy, the ‘What About Me?’ gags just keep writing themselves. At least you’ve still got last year’s State of Origin.
