Back in the noughties, it was pretty hard to turn on triple j without hearing Gyroscope.

From their early singles such as ‘Safe Forever’, ‘Doctor, Doctor’, and ‘Fast Girl’, to their days of radio domination which saw them release albums like Are You Involved? and Breed Obsession, it was hard to escape the band. Now, after seven years away from the spotlight, Gyroscope are back with a brand new single and a tour to boot.

If you were listening to Richard Kingsmill’s new music program on Sunday night, you might have heard a sneaky preview of ‘Crooked Thought’, Gyroscope’s comeback single. Today though, Gyroscope’s new double A-side single sees an official release.

‘Crooked Thought/’DABS’ is the first piece of new music that Gyroscope has released since their 2010 record Cohesion, which hit number three on the Aussie charts. A driving rock tune, it proves that even after so many years away from the game, the boys have still got it.

But the good news doesn’t stop there though, with the group announcing a national tour in support of the new tunes. ‘The Tour Of Crooked Thoughts’ is set to kick off in Brisbane on January 10th, and hit up Melbourne, Sydney, and Adelaide, before it culminates in a huge hometown show in Perth.

Joining Gyroscope on their national tour will be Adelaide’s Horror My Friend, while local supports will pop up around the country.

Tickets are on sale now, so be sure to check out tour dates, and give Gyroscope’s new tunes, ‘Crooked Thoughts’/’DABS’, a listen as well.
