Melbourne singer-songwriter Helen Croome has one of the most unique sounds in Australian music at the moment and has released her fourth album under her moniker Gossling.

After finding popularity featuring on Australian hip-hop artist 360’s hit single  “Boys Like You” Gossling has offered up a hot plate of summer hits in Harvest Of Gold.

The album is a relatively short one with just 10 songs but the quality of the music far outweighs this minor shortcoming.

In fact, the haunting melodies of the slightly electronic folk songs will have you aching for more. Opening track “Big Love” produces instant goosebumps as Croome romances you with her delicate and mesmerising sound then transitioning into a joyful pop chorus.

While a not an altogether upbeat record, Harvest Of Gold still has all the makings of a summer soundtrack with delicate instrumental work and characteristically stunning vocals that emulate a relaxing balmy night.

The record feels distinctly cinematic, tracks like “Lover’s Spat” and “Pulse” transport listeners to a dark world where strangers lurk in the shadows. “Vanish”, written about the murder of Jill Meagher this year follows this feeling to a tee.

Cant stop from watching, over and over, should we see what he wrote on her face?” Croome sings about the security footage played of Meagher’s final moments and how the event captivated the nation.

While it is a dark offering for summer, Harvest Of Gold is a sure hit thanks to Croome’s stunning goosebump-inducing vocals and keen attention to detail on every single track.
